Appropriation Act No. 5, 2015-16

An Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016

This enactment grants the sum of $2,835,726,858 towards defraying charges and expenses of the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016 that are not otherwise provided for.

Mr. Chair, the last time the President of the Treasury Board introduced a spending bill, he forgot the numbers, and were it not for the tender mercies of the compassionate official opposition that allowed the mistake to be overlooked, whole sections of the Government of Canada would have shut down and many public servants would have gone without a paycheque.

In light of that history, I wonder if the President of the Treasury Board can confirm this time if he has in fact read the bill and if it is in its normal form.

The form of this bill is the same as that passed in the previous supply period.

The hon. member said that the form of the bill is the same as the last time. That is exactly what we were trying to avoid. I wonder if he would rise and correct himself.
