Mr. Speaker, where is the member's voice and the voices of Conservatives when queer refugees are struggling to come to this country? They are nowhere to be found. Where is the member when he should stick up for trans kids when we have Canadian pride caucus meetings? He is nowhere to be found, nor is the MP for Thornhill.

They try to wrap themselves in the rainbow flag when it is convenient to get Conservative votes. They are simply not truthful with Canadians. They are not truthful with the queer community.

Mr. Speaker, we have answered that question already this week.

My question, and a question that Canadians from the queer community want to know, is, where was the member, who is a member of the queer community, when it came to the kids living on the street, 50% of whom are LGBT, because their straight parents kicked them out? Where was the member when Blaine Higgs went after trans kids in New Brunswick? Where was the member when Danielle Smith said that she was going to take the rights of trans kids away? Where was the member when Scott Moe was focusing on bathrooms in a Saskatchewan election?

He will not show up at Canadian pride events or when we talk about trans issues. He should be ashamed that he is not defending the queer community of Canada.

Mr. Speaker, I have a great deal of respect for my hon. colleague. She is right. Canadians have been going through tough times, but where was she when we voted to support Canadian seniors? Where were she and her caucus when we cut taxes for Canadians? Where was she when we established a dental care plan for Canadians?

I know what this member and all of the Conservatives did. They voted against those measures. They voted against Canadians.

We are here for Canadians and for all Quebeckers.

Mr. Speaker, as I have been very clear in the chamber and at committee, there is a new sheriff in town. Businesses need to be very careful and need to make sure that they are respecting workers from coast to coast to coast.

Stay tuned later today for more changes to the temporary foreign worker program. We are serious about making sure that the program is a program of last resort. Jobs belong in the hands of Canadians, of youth, of newcomers and of people who already live here. We are going to make sure the temporary foreign program is cleaned up. That is what we promised Canadians. It is exactly what we are going to do.

[Carbon Pricing, October 22nd, 2024]

Mr. Speaker, the numbers are in and the cheques have already arrived. In Alberta, a family of four gets $2,500 per year. It is more than they spend on the price on pollution, which is something those on the other side do not understand because they do not care if the planet burns.

Let us go one step further. Why did those on that side vote against the Canada child benefit, which gives $7,800 per kid in Alberta? Why did they vote against child care? Why did they vote against supports for workers? They care about themselves, not about Canadians. We are on the side of Canadians each and every day.

Mr. Speaker, at the risk of correcting my hon. colleague from the other side, let me state very clearly that the PBO has indicated that eight out of 10 Albertans get more money back from the Canada carbon rebate than they pay in carbon taxes. Members do not have to take my word for it. They can take the word of Premier Danielle Smith, who said that not only did she get more money back because she lives in rural Alberta, but she even got the 20% top-up.

To my colleague, I am sorry. That is a fact.

Mr. Speaker, whether it is banning replacement workers or increasing the union training investment fund, this is the most labour-friendly government in the history of our country. We are union-proud and union-friendly. We are going to continue to make sure that we grow this economy from the bottom up and the middle out, and that means with good union workers.

[Emergency Preparedness, October 8th, 2024]

Mr. Speaker, my hon. colleague has heard from the minister for Parks Canada. The company in question was in the employ of the Government of Alberta and the matter was resolved.

I have been in regular contact with Mayor Ireland and his council, as have other members in this government, other ministers and other MPs. We are working with Mayor Ireland, his council and Jasperites every week to make sure Jasper comes back better than ever before, because that is what Albertans and Canadians expect of us.

Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives are heckling us every step of the way. We are supporting students to build Canada and make sure we have an economy that is fair for every generation.
